BDPA High School Computer Camp-Orientation 1/29

High School Computer Camp

We will have the 2011 Detroit HSCC Orientation on January 29, 2011! This program is a 6-month course (Saturdays) where high school students learn website application development. For the IT-savvy, that includes HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, & SQL. They will also learn Basic Computer Knowledge, Time Management & Presentation Skills, & Teamwork. The students also have a chance to be selected to represent Detroit at the National BDPA Conference (http://www.bdpa.org) and compete against 20+ teams for awards & scholarships!

The top 5 teams are the awardees of scholarships ranging from $2500 per student to $500 per student. Our Detroit team has placed 3 times nationally in the top 5 in the last 4 years!

Intro to Google Android App Inventor course-Learn to create apps



Want to learn how to create your own apps? Well you came to the right place because
The Web Academy is offering this fun course.


Course Description: An introduction Google Android App Inventor allows you to create simple applications for the Android smart phone.

Experience: You do not have to have a programming background because App Inventor uses “drag and drop” module blocks for application development. An Android phone is not necessary because you can build applications in the Google Android App Inventor Emulator.

Cost: This course is free but purchasing our course material of $69.00 is required.


Prerequisites: NONE

FREE Web Design Class- "The Web Academy"

The Web Academy is a 5013c organization providing FREE online web design classes. The Web Academy is 100% distance learning All of thir courses are taught online by a live instructor. During class time, stuents are able to interact with our instuctors and ask questions, just like being in an actual classroom. In addition, The Web Academy provides free web development services to those organizations who qualify.


After completing our intro class, our students possess the necessary skills to create a web site like this on which was created with WordPress. As a part of our curriculum, our students work as designers, project managers and developers for real clients. If you are seious and passionate about learning web development, then perhaps The Web Academy is for you.
