Detroit Pistons To Host 11th Annual Career Fair


he Detroit Pistons are hosting the team’s 11th Annual Career Fair at The Palace on Friday, February 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The event brings together industry leaders of professional sports, college athletics, minor league sports, marketing and finance organizations, broadcasting companies and other business hiring in Michigan. Approximately 40 companies in total will be participating.

Admission to the Career Fair is $10 for the event alone or $15 which includes the event plus a ticket for the Detroit Pistons vs. New Jersey Nets game later that day beginning at 7:30 p.m. Additional game tickets for friends and family are available at the discounted rate of $15.

In addition, there is an option of attending an Executive Panel Q&A session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. featuring some of the top decision-makers from Palace Sports & Entertainment who will speak about their career paths and provide advice on getting into sports and entertainment. This session has limited availability and admission is $20 which includes the Q&A session, Career Fair and a ticket to the Pistons game.

    Welcome to Michigan Reads!

    Welcome to an exciting new season of the “Michigan Reads” program. “Michigan Reads” is specifically designed for Michigan students to encourage them to read more and to inspire them to reach new heights. Through our association with the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Red Wings, the Michigan Education Association is rewarding students who read books with great tickets to Detroit Pistons or Detroit Red Wings games.

    While we realize that reading great books is its own reward, we also know that sometimes students need a little incentive to read amidst the daily options and distractions of sports, video games and the Internet. Through the generosity of the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Red Wings, we hope your student will be inspired again to embark on a journey of imagination that begins with reading.

    It's a great new season, so start reading!

    Pistons
    Here’s all you have to do. Read five (5) books then have your parent or guardian fill in your contact information and the books you've read. Be sure to choose the Detroit Pistons on the “Michigan Reads” 2010-11 program website. By reading five (5) books, you’ll be eligible to:

    •Receive a free $40 upper level ticket when another ticket of the same value is purchased at half price. (two tickets valued at a total of $80 for only $20)
    •Recieve a free $45 lower level ticket when an accompanying $50 lower level ticket is purchased. (two tickets valued at a total of $95 for only $50)
    It’s that easy!


    Red Wings
    Here’s all you have to do. Read five (5) books then have your parent or guardian fill in your contact information and the books you've read. Be sure to choose the Detroit Red Wings on the “Michigan Reads” 2010-11 program website. By reading five (5) books, you’ll be eligible for:

    •Your voucher entitles you to a special Michigan Reads Ticket Package good for one (1) FREE student ticket, one (1) FREE Kids Club membership for the
    2010-11 season, and one (1) specially priced adult ticket to a 2010 Red Wings regular season game!

    •There are 2 package prices depending on if the game you select is during a weeknight or a weekend.
    ◦Weeknight Game Package – One free ticket for the student and $28 for the first adult ticket and $15 for each additional ticket
    ◦Weekend Game Package – One free ticket for the student and $40 for the first adult ticket and $20 for each additional ticket

    10th Annual MLK Kid's Day with the Detroit Pistons- 1/17



    The Detroit Pistons are hosting the team’s annual Kids’ Day on Monday, January 17 when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at 3:30 p.m. at The Palace.
    Parents can enter their kids between the ages of 8 and 14 to win one of two great Pistons events:
    1. The opportunity to "work" at The Palace during the 1/17 game vs. Dallas Mavericks, or
    2. The opportunity to have a player come visit his/her class at school.


    Kids will get the opportunity for a “behind-the-scenes” look at what it takes to put on an NBA game. The team is also looking for special youngsters to portray the starting five as well as a public address announcer.

    Piston's Social Media Night- FREE Lower Level Suite Ticket- exp 1/6



    If the Pistons are your team, you can help us tell their story. We’re looking for Pistons fans who like sharing their thoughts about the team to join us when the Pistons host the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 8 and give their views of the experience via blogs, Twitter or websites.
    All accepted applicants will receive a lower-level suite ticket, exclusive social media t-shirt, meet and get the chance to interview Jonas Jerebko before the game, and have access to the postgame media interview sessions with Pistons coach John Kuester and players. Any postgame coverage you share will receive recognition on Pistons.com.
    We look forward to seeing you on Jan. 8.

    Detroit Pistons honor military heroes- December 17, 2010

    The Pistons are hosting “Military Night” at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday, December 17, 2010, during the Pistons vs. LA Clippers game to celebrate current and retired military personnel. Any military member or veteran who presents their military ID at The Palace Box Office receives a free ticket to the game and hundreds of members will be recognized and celebrated for their service throughout the game.



    The first 10,000 fans at the game will receive an American flag pin provided by the Detroit Pistons. Select military members in uniform will sit courtside thanks to many Pistons season ticket holders who donated their front row, VIP tickets for this special occasion. Additionally, 100 future Marines will be officially sworn in to the U.S. Marine Corp during halftime at center court. Military members have also been asked to participate in pre-game and halftime tunnels, on-court recognitions and a post-game meet and greet with Pistons players.



    The general public and guests of military members are invited to show their support by taking advantage of a ticket special with 200 level tickets for the game for $10 or 100 level tickets for $30.     “The Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment are proud to honor our troops alongside our fans,” said Pistons Executive Vice President Dan Hauser, whose oldest son is an officer in the Marines and has served tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. “During this holiday season of giving it seems very appropriate to provide a special evening for these servicemen who have given so much for our country.”

    "Pistons Days at Meijer" Win posters, jerseys and even tickets to games


    The Pistons have teamed up once again with Meijer to present "Pistons Days at Meijer" - the closest Pistons experience you'll find outside The Palace of Auburn Hills.


    The Pistons' mascot, Hooper, and members from Palace Patrol and Automotion will visit eight different Meijer locations in Southeastern Michigan during the 2010-11 season. Meijer shoppers also will have a chance to win Pistons posters, jerseys, and even tickets to an upcoming game by spinning the Pistons Prize Wheel.


    To complete the experience, a Pistons player will be there during the final hour of the event to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans can pick up a free autograph card or bring a personal item. To keep the line moving, fans are asked to refrain from requesting multiple autographs or a posed picture.


    Specific information about players, dates and locations for "Pistons Days at Meijer" is listed below and will be featured on Pistons.com in advance of the appearance date. Note: Players, dates, times and locations are subject to change.
