Car Purchase/Repair Program

I recieved some information today about this program that I would like to share. It's the city of Detroit Department of Human Services Car Purchase Program. The deadline is September 30, 2010. If you need a car (don't already have one) go to the Northwest Activities Center at 18100 Meyers Rd on the lower lever to the Department of Human Services.


Take (make copies if you can so that there will be no resistance if their copier is broken):

• Picture ID
• Birth Certificate or report card or immunization record for any children under 18
• Social security cards for all household memebers
• Written proof of income for the past 12 months and a quote if possible of a car less than $5000 (the voucher is up to $4995)

If you already have a car then you wo't qualify for the car purchase program. But they will repair the car up to $900. In addition to the above, bring with you:

• Proof of insurance
• Driver's license
• Title
• Registration
• Quote from a licensed mechanic
